My Story

I have been interested in healthy living my entire life. I’ve always gobbled up as much info as I can on health, nutrition, and exercise.  It’s what I love and what I studied in college.

A few years ago I had my first baby.  I was concerned about the best foods to give him that would help him grow and thrive.  Here was a brand new, perfect digestive system and I had the responsibility to keep it perfect.  I limited the processed stuff and gave him what I thought was a very nutritious diet.  When he hit toddlerhood, his terrible twos hit a whole new level.  Obviously toddlers are hyper, but some days he could not even focus on my face or stop his body from jittering because he was so wild.  Months passed.  Feeling I had tried EVERYTHING to help him, I decided to cut out the processed stuff.  Sugar made a difference, but so did refined stuff like graham crackers and goldfish (that are both filled with junk).  I started to see a very noticeable difference in his behavior.   Yes, he is still wild, but it’s way better than when he is eating that stuff.  This was the turning point for me where I decided to really take our family’s health into my hands.  I have noticed a remarkable difference in the way that I feel. My body feels energized, full, and refreshed.  I’m convinced that the difference I see in our son has to do with the way his body now feels.

There is an overwhelming amount of information out there and many people who have been doing this for years.  I decided to start this site to help other moms through the process so we don’t all feel so lost and wonder where to begin.  My personal philosophy strattles conventional science and the extreme holistic approaches to health.  I think there is a healthy balance between the two. Right now I am focusing on eliminating toxins and chemicals from our food and eating things as close to their natural form as possible.  So far it’s been amazing. I don’t deprive myself of anything, but focus on real, whole food as much as I can.  I am devouring information as fast as I can get my hands on it, but I know this will be a very long process of many baby steps.  Thanks for joining me on this journey to change our lifestyles and the way we eat.
